Another way I use my test-print dish towels is to care for our cast iron pans. We have three pans in our household and use them almost for nearly every meal. We use salt and hot water to scrub them and then dry them on the burner. If nothing stuck to the pan during cooking, I’ll just wipe it out with the old dish cloth and hang the pan back up again. Then I just rinse the towel out and toss it in the laundry bag. Clearly, I wouldn’t recommend using a brand new dish towel for this but for the ones you’re too embarrassed to put out anymore, you can give them new life as a cast iron cleaner.
